Castle - Puppy Love

To anyone that may be catching up on castle and doesn't want details about new episodes stop reading here. This means you Sarah!  Everyone else onward!

Castle took a little happier spin this week but it didn't back down on anything, especially the UST (unrequited sexual tension) and STD (Sexual Tension Dimension).  The episode featured a look into the Kardashian lifestyle with guest stars Hilary Burton (White Collar, One Tree Hill) and Justin Hartley (Smallville).  Burton plays Kay Cappuccio the Kardashian of the story and Hartley her boyfriend.  Meanwhile Castle and Beckett got some time to share custody over . . . a dog.  Royal was the victim's pet and when he died there were no relatives to take dog in so Beckett and Castle learned to share.

Backing up though I want to talk a minute about Hillary Burton.  I felt like this episode really showed off her acting skills.  I've watched her in other roles but it has been usually the spunky independent woman.  This time she played a complete ditz.  With quotes like

Beckett: "Do you know what corporate espionage is?"
Kay: "No"
-pause-
Kay: "Seriously I don't know what that means . . ."

If I didn't know who she was I probably wouldn't have expected that she was Hillary Burton.  They gave her a soul too which I think Burton worked really well with.  When she's with Esposito she breaks down a little and mentions how she really doesn't like her life. Espo being the strong kind man he is offers any help she needs.  They may, in the future bring this back.  Lanie finds out, and maybe gets a little jealous.

The main moment in this episode if you are like me is when Castle drops off the dog at Beckett's apartment.  He is giving her advice about what the dog likes and he starts rubbing her hand.  They look at each other and then the moment quickly passes and he hurries to leave.  If there is one thing these writers know how to do it is write scenes packed with sexual tension.  Looking at the main writers they have done some work on Bones which definitely shows.

In the end neither Castle or Beckett keep the dog.  It goes with Kay.  Still all ends as Castle and Beckett watch Royal and Kay's dog playing together.  "They do look happy together," Beckett adds.

Up Next:  In two weeks time Castle takes a blast to the past casting each character in a old time mob story.  And yes there will be a kiss.
